Genetic Counseling: Becca Loman ’14, M.S.

Rebecca Loman is currently the Program Director of the M.S. Genetic Counseling training program at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. As only the second director in the program’s history, Ms. Loman rose to this leadership position after working as a clinical genetic counselor and assistant program director for seven years.

For the past 15 years Ellie Daniels has been working in non-traditional and emergent settings for Athletic Training, both domestically and internationally.

Distinguished Alumni Award: Dr. Jerono Rotich, KIN

Distinguished Alumni Award: Dr. Jerono Rotich ’04 Ph.D., Exercise and Sport Science   

Dr. Jerono Rotich is this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is the highest honor given to an alum. It is for a person who has attained national and/or international stature through their achievements in one or more areas of teaching, scholarship, service, administration, leadership, creative endeavors, human relationships, and inspiration. 

Public Service Award: Carmyn Glynn, KIN

Ms. Carmyn Glynn is the recipient of this year’s Public Service Award. This award may be given to an individual or group who, in their role as a member of the faculty, staff, administration, alumni, or friends, has made an extraordinary contribution to the mission and advancement of HHS.

Dr. Lindsey Oakes , CTR

Community and Therapeutic Recreation: Dr. Lindsey Oakes ‘12 MS

Dr. Lindsey Oakes is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Recreational Therapy program in the Department of Recreation Sciences at East Carolina University. Dr. Oakes earned two degrees from UNCG: a Master’s of Science from Community and Therapeutic Recreation with a Therapeutic Recreation concentration and a Ph.D. in Public Health Education. Dr. Oakes has many peer reviewed publications and has received numerous awards related to her work. While at UNCG, she was instrumental in advancing the Beyond Academics program. She also serves as a senior associate for InFocus Advocacy, a nonprofit working to prepare people with disabilities as self-advocates, enhancing the image of people with disabilities, and creating inclusive communities. 

Dr. Jinni Su, Human Development and Family Studies

Human Development and Family Studies: Dr. Jinni Su ’11, ’15 Ph.D.

Dr. Jinni Su received her bachelor’s degree in Economics at Beijing Normal University in China, and her master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Family Studies at UNCG.  

In expanding her doctoral training, Dr. Su completed a post-doctoral fellowship in psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, researching the area of Environment, Development and Genetics (EDGE).
