Public Health Education: Alexis Steptoe

Pacesetter: Ms. Alexis Steptoe, MPH, CHES  

As a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Master of Public Health program in Community Health Education, Ms. Alexis Steptoe has demonstrated exemplary achievement and dedication to her profession. Ms. Steptoe is the Assistant Director of Wellness at N.C. State University Wellness and Recreation, a role in which she has not only enhanced campus wellness programs, but also addressed the diverse needs of students through comprehensive and inclusive health initiatives. In 2021, she was recognized as the Emerging Wellness Professional of the Year by the National Wellness Institute, which recognized her innovative contributions to wellness, particularly her efforts to implement systems approaches that benefit both the Durham community and the NC State campus. 

Her achievements and recognition are a testament to the solid foundation she built during her time at UNCG. As a student, Ms. Steptoe was deeply involved in community service and demonstrated strong leadership skills. She served on the Executive Leadership Committee for the Alpha Nu chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma, the national honorary society for health education, where she contributed to numerous health education initiatives and fostered a spirit of academic excellence and community involvement. 

Her work embodies the principles of scholarship, leadership, and service, making a significant impact at local, state, and regional levels.
