Department of Public Health Education Professor Dr. Michelle Martin Romero is one of three people selected nationally as a fellow for the Leadership and Education Advancement Program (LEAP) for diverse scholars. She is part of the 2024-26 cohort, and will work on a NIH (National Institutes of Health) NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases) research proposal to support her research on understanding the links between racialized stressors, coping, and cardiometabolic health among Black and Brown women and their families in the U.S. The fellowship includes mentoring, leadership development, grant writing training, career development funds, and executive coaching. PHE Professor Dr. Sandra Echeverria will serve as her mentor.
