Melissa Schreibstein

Melissa Schreibstein is a leader and connector with more than a decade of experience educating and inspiring high performers to look inward, keep learning, grow stronger, and create conditions for thriving.

Melissa is known for bringing compassion, deep listening, and natural positivity to coaching, facilitating, and consulting in mental performance, leadership development, and organizational well-being. She founded The Leadership Project, LLC, a leadership coaching and consulting practice, and also serves as Director of Well-Being Programs at George Mason University.

Melissa honed her passion for developing high performers working with tactical athletes as a senior subject matter expert in peak performance and resilience for the U.S. Army.
Her clients are experienced and emerging leaders, ranging from C-suite executives, small business and non-profit leadership, physicians, entrepreneurs, collegiate and professional athletes.

Melissa’s approach is multidisciplinary, applying wisdom from fields such as sport psychology and mental training, positive psychology, resilience, well-being, leadership, change management, and organizational development.

She is an expert in facilitation of interactive and engaging mental performance and leadership development training, tailoring programs to meet development goals. Clients report that sessions enhance their professional focus, confidence, individual and team performance. In the boardroom, gym, classroom, or on the field, Melissa provides compelling lessons, sound insight, and enthusiastic, strategic support to help clients achieve higher levels of success.

Melissa maintains an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential through the International Coach Federation. She completed certification in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being from George Mason University. Melissa studied positive psychology and resilience with a team of experts at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a Primary Instructor for the U.S. Army’s Master Resilience Training program.

She has a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Health and Human Services. Her Bachelor’s degree in psychology is from the George Washington University, where she captained the women’s soccer team. Melissa and her wife live in Washington, DC.
