James B and Carolyn L Hunt Early Childhood Scholarship Fund

This award was established in 2000 to honor Governor James Hunt and his wife, Carolyn. They led the fight to assure all children in North Carolina get the opportunity to be successful. Governor Hunt began the Smart Start Program in 1993. Smart Start’s mission is to assure that all children begin school healthy and ready to succeed.
