While at Woman’s College, Vera studied the developing field of Dietetics. She served as the Chief Dietitian in Fort Bragg during WWII and trained many dietitians for deployment overseas. Vera has remained active in the field of dietetics and in the American Dietetic Association all of her professional life.
She has been a mentor to many young women and a major contributor to scholarships for dietitians through the NC Dietetic Association Foundation.
