What are the goals of the conference?

The purpose of the 3rd annual conference is to reduce violence against women by strengthening research and
evidence-based practice through academic-community partnerships.

Other key goals include:
 improved skills for data driven decision making in the field;
 enriched familiarity of innovative, evidence based research and practice focusing particularly on
priority populations (including, but not limited to, migrant workers, military families, members of LGBTQ
communities);
 heightened understanding of the social determinants of health outcomes as related to SA and DV;
 greater awareness of how colleges and universities are responding to recent federal legislation related
to DV and SA;
 improved awareness of the current issues confronting SA and DV programs in North Carolina;
 enhanced knowledge sharing between researchers and practitioners in response to these current
issues.
