What are the goals of the conference?
The purpose of the 3rd annual conference is to reduce violence against women by strengthening research and
evidence-based practice through academic-community partnerships.
Other key goals include:
improved skills for data driven decision making in the field;
enriched familiarity of innovative, evidence based research and practice focusing particularly on
priority populations (including, but not limited to, migrant workers, military families, members of LGBTQ
heightened understanding of the social determinants of health outcomes as related to SA and DV;
greater awareness of how colleges and universities are responding to recent federal legislation related
to DV and SA;
improved awareness of the current issues confronting SA and DV programs in North Carolina;
enhanced knowledge sharing between researchers and practitioners in response to these current
