HDF 377: Professional Development in HDFS

This course is designed to prepare students for their internship experience and to contribute to the development of their professional skills and career goals. This course is required for all HDFS majors in the Child, Youth, and Family Studies concentration. It is a prerequisite for the internship (HDF 499), and it is usually taken one semester before the internship.

Prerequisites

  • Grades C- or better in HDF 111, HDF 112, & HDF 202 or 203 or 204 (previously HDF 211, 212, 302, 303, and 304)
  • 2.50 GPA
  • Senior standing
  • Permission of instructor

Register for HDF 499 You will need written permission in order to register for this class. NOTE: You MUST have a 2.5 GPA AND have completed HDF 377 in order to do your internship, NO EXCEPTIONS! Contact Internship Director during the semester BEFORE your internship to register for HDF 499
HDFS Internship Application Form To obtain internship and supervisor information Dec 1 (Spring Interns), August 1 (Fall interns)
Attend Orientation Meeting To receive information on the internship process and to obtain important forms to start your internship Semester prior to internship; Students interning in the Fall should attend the orientation meeting at the end of Spring semester. Orientation typically occurs on Reading Day
