Our Programs
Undergraduate students select from concentrations that prepare them for:
- Working in agencies and settings serving children, adolescents, older adults, and families
- Achieving graduate degrees in fields such as HDFS, counseling, social work, psychology, education, child life, and more
- Pursuing certification as Family Life Educators.
- Teaching young children from birth through kindergarten in a variety of settings including North Carolina public school
Graduate students examine the biological, relational, early educational, social, and cultural foundations of development and their implications for families. A defining focus of our program is an emphasis on the application of strength-based approaches to the study of diverse children and families.

Childcare Education Program
The Childcare Education Program is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and operate at North Carolina’s highest 5-Star Rated License level.
