Brief Bio

Hi all! My name is Lucy McNamee and I’m a first year student at UNCG. I am originally from Cary, North Carolina, and I graduated from North Carolina State University in May of 2021 with a B.S. in Genetics and a minor in Psychology. During my time at NC State, I participated in research about gene-environment interaction at the NIEHS, shadowed and interviewed GCs at Duke and UNC hospitals, and volunteered at a domestic violence crisis center in Raleigh. There are a lot of things that drew me to this career, but one of the biggest factors was the variety of different specialties you can practice in with a degree in genetic counseling! When I’m not studying, I love to spend time with my friends and family, go to the gym, and play video games. If you have any questions about the program or the application process, feel free to contact me at lemcnamee@uncg.edu! 🙂
