Brief Bio

Hi everyone, my name is Katie Griffin and I just moved out to North Carolina from San Francisco, CA! I graduated from UCLA in 2019 where I majored in biochemistry and minored in classical civilizations. I always knew I liked science and considered several different paths from forensic science to medicine but found that those weren’t the right fit. Although I was a summer camp counselor for several years, it wasn’t until I spent time as an academic peer counselor during undergrad that I decided I really enjoyed counseling. As soon as I came across genetic counseling, I knew it was the perfect fit by combining my passions for asking questions, problem-solving, scientific innovation, and engaging with people. Currently, outside of my many roles serving as a student, a graduate assistant, and a part-time project specialist for a biotech company, you can find me doing some sort of puzzle, fully invested in some show on Netflix, or scouring Yelp for my next restaurant outing. Please feel free to reach out with absolutely any questions at kegriffin@uncg.edu!
