Enjoy the restorative properties of nature as you celebrate the trail to recovery with fellow cancer survivors and caregivers.
The Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation at UNCG understands that a cancer diagnosis comes with a number of challenges that affect identity, physical ability, and emotional well-being.
Coping with these life transitions requires significant support from your family, friends, medical staff – and your community.
What is the Celebrate the Trail to Recovery program?

The Celebrate the Trail to Recovery (CTR) program is another tool for your battle with cancer – or the adjustment to your “new normal” after radiation, chemotherapy, and rehabilitation are complete.
What is it based on?
Based on principles of nature-based therapy, the CTR program offers opportunities to get out on the hiking trail systems of the greater Greensboro area to embrace the restorative properties of nature and build new relationships on the trail to recovery.
About the hikes:
Hikes are offered on a weekly basis with faculty and graduate students from the Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation at UNCG. For more details about hike locations and times, email or call Justin Harmon at harmon@uncg.edu or (303)875-3977.
