History

In the spring of 2010 the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) chose the Center for Women’s Health and Wellness (CWHW) and the Department of Kinesiology (KIN) in the School of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) at University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) as its collaborative, university home.

This new collaborative program housed in CWHW at UNCG was named the Program for the Advancement of Girls and Women in Sport and Physical Activity.

The goal of our collaboration is to further advance sport and physical activity opportunities for all girls and women, through evidence-based scholarship.Because we are housed in a university setting, we will continue to develop initiatives and programs in three specific areas:

  • scholarship/research
  • education
  • and service.
